Jake Mitchinson and Elliot Green Awarded for Performances

It’s time for another set of our merit awards today and it’s the turn of our under 13 and 14 squads to be in the spotlight. These are age groups where players are likely to be going through a number of physical and emotional changes. With growth spurts there are likely to be ups and downs in their performance and in many ways they are the most difficult to judge development. We are lucky to have experienced coaching teams in place to deal with that. They are on a two year contract for these age groups but at the end of under 14 we are very selective and any who are then given a further two year contract will have been judged to have the capabilities and potential to be a scholar.

The under 13 squad are coached by Mark Hone and Clive Breedon. To contend for their award they have picked defender Jake Mitchison, Ryan Leggett and recent signing Michael Hornsby. Michael has worked hard since his signing and Ryan and Jake have performed well in defence. In the end the coaches decided to give the award to Jake because of his steady and calm commitment and a number of strong defensive performances since the start of the season. Jake has been with the Centre since March 2003 and attends Lincoln School of Science and Technology.

At under 14 long serving Paul Buckthorp and Warren Walker are in charge. They’ve been dealing with the under 13 and 14 age group squads for a good number of years. Some familiar names feature in their top three. Harry Millard is never short of effort and commitment in his performances in attack. Sam Downey is a hard working midfielder who always plays with a smile on his face but possesses real competitive qualities. Elliot Green has played in midfield and defence over the three seasons he has been with the Centre but this season has been used as a centre half. He has settled well in that position and given some good displays to add to his hard work and willingness to learn in coaching. Although a close run thing, Elliot gets the award. He attends William Farr School at Welton.

Congratulations to Elliot and Jake on their awards which are recognition for a lot of hard work.
